Proceedings of a Regimental Board, for the purpose of verifying the Services, Conduct, Character, and cause of Discharge of No. 724 Private Joseph Featherstone.

The board having examined and compared the regimental records, the soldiers book and other such documents, report that Joseph Featherstone by trade a labourer was born in the Parish of Boston in the County of Lincolnshire and was Attested for the 59th Regiment of Infantry at Nottingham on the 26th November 1829 at 18 years of age. That after making every deduction required by |Her Majesty's regulations up to this day, which he is entitled to reckon amounts to 21 years and 190 days, as shown in the detailed statement on the second page during which period he served abroad 9 years and 160 days:
at Mediterranean 6 years and 154 days
in the West Indies 3 years and 6 days
and further that his discharge is proposed in consequence of being considered unfit for futher Service by authority of the Lt General Commanding. Dated: Adjutant Generals Office Dublin 23rd May 1851
With Regard to the Character and Conduct of Joseph Featherstone the Board have to report upon reference to the Defaulters Book and by testimony that has been given it appears that The conduct of Joseph Featherstone has been A+ That of a very good soldier, is in possession of two good conduct rings.
