    • firing anvils into the air on hoildays
The early inhabitants of American Fork took pride in celebrating the national Independence Day and Pioneer Day. The fine parades headed by Captain Eugene Henriod's infantry, which fired musket volleys at each corner en route, and the famous old-time brass band under the leadership of William Grant will always remain pleasant memories to those who witnessed them. Those days were ushered in at daybreak by the firing of anvils under the direction fo Robert Walker, Hyrum Hoggard and others.
