      the London Gazette, July 23, 1861 court for relief of insolvent debtors. the 20th day of July, 1861. Orders have been made, vesting in the Provisional Assignee the Estates and Effects of the following persons:
      On their own petitions. Thomas Featherstone, late of Jubilee-place, Heigham-road St. Giles Gates, Norwich, not in any business.-In the Gaol of Norwich.

      Norfolk News 10 August 1861 Admitted to bail till September. Thomas Featherstone, banker’s cIerk the debts, are £385 17s 11d; and the credits £135 , all of which are “bad.” the arrest was effected on the 13th of July. the insolvency is attributed to having a large family to support, domestic illness, and being unable to obtain repayment of a loan of £120 advanced to a relative - Sir. J. G. Atkinson, attorney.

      10 Aug 1861 the Norfolk Chronicle and Norwich Gazette? Admitted to bail till September. Thomas Featherstone, banker’s clerk. the debts are £385 17s. 1d; and the credits £135, all of which are “bad.” the arrest was effected on the 13th of July. the general balance sheet gives a total value to be accounted for of £2499 7s. 11d., with a deficiency of only £4 18s. 7d. Among other items the figures show-Dr.: Received for salary from 1850 to 1861, £1495; marriage gift in 1854, £500.-Cr.: Paid for servants’ wages and other household expenses during the eleven and a half years preceding the insolvency, £1,436 13s. 4d.; paid debts contracted by wife’ previous to her marriage, £200; medical expenses, £180 life assurance premiums, £28 17s..6d. the insolvency is attributed to having a large family to support, domestic illness, and being unable to obtain payment of a loan of £120 advanced to a relative. the largest creditors rank for £237, which is partly secured by life policies, and the acknowledgment of the £120 due to the insolvent.
